EXPLAINING YOUR OPTIONS
We'll explain your options, both legal and otherwise, so you have a clear understanding of where you stand and what you can and can't do. ,You may feel that a lawyer is needed from Day One but before you even go there, you have a mountain of preparation to do to get ready. We'll give you a checklist to get you started and make sure nothing is missing.

PREPARATION AND COACHING FOR COURT
The family law process is hard on everyone and unless you are a machine with no feelings, you will go through massive ups and downs along this journey. You'll get upset, angry, frustrated, nervous. There will be times you will feel like giving up, or feel like the world is against you, but you need to keep your eye on the prize. We will keep you balanced, stable, focused and driven, We'll support you, and be the shoulder you need all the way through. Most importantly when it comes time for you to stand up in front of a Judge, you’ll be ready.

PREPARING AND FILING APPLICATIONS, AFFIDAVITS, CONSENT ORDERS
We'll help you prepare and file the right forms and also how to use ComCourt, the online portal for uploading and downloading court documents, filing applications, affidavits, annexures, reports etc. Instead of going down to a court house every time and physically filing the documents, you can file online via ComCourt. The Courts can also distribute information to all parties via the portal.

UNDERSTANDING THE FAMILY COURT PROCESS

We'll explain the process form start to finish, how long will it take, how much will it cost, what the Court may order along the way, how you get started, filing applications, affidavits, what you need to prepare, Family Reports, Child Dispute Conferences, Independent Children Lawyers, Expert Witnesses...it can all be very daunting and confusing but we'll explain everything for you.  We'll also explore your options, both legal and otherwise, so you have a clear understanding of where you stand and what you can and can't do. ,You may feel that a lawyer is needed from Day One but that’s not the case. Before you even start thinking about lawyers, you have a mountain of preparation to do to get ready. We'll help you prepare and give you a checklist to get you on your way….and don’t worry, we’ll be there all the way with you.

COMMUNICATING AND NEGOTIATING WITH OTHER PARTIES
The reason you and your ex ended up in this situation is mainly because you were unable to communicate properly. Don’t feel bad…very few people are able to put emotions and hurt aside when they communicate with the other side. We’ll help you with all of that. All emails, text and face to face communication will be vetted, sanitized and devoid of emotions. Just simple facts so we get the message out there loud and clear without any risk of inflaming the situation.

MEDIATION & FAMILY DISPUTE RESOLUTION
If you feel it would help both you and your partner to have an experienced mediator work through some of the issues which are stopping you both from settling on parenting or financials, then we'll mediate for you. If worse comes to worse we can also issue 60i Certificates if need be. A 60i is proof that mediation was attempted, but failed, and as a result you are now free to file an application in Court. For more information visit www.sydneyfamilylawmediation.com.au

SELF REPRESENTATION - PROS AND CONS
You don't always need a lawyer and self representation is possible in many cases. We'll coach you how to represent yourself in court, what to prepare, how to speak to the Court and its Officers, other lawyers etc. If we feel your case warrants legal representation, we'll say so!. If not, and you feel you are capable of doing this on your own, then we'll prepare you each of those court appearances.

60I CERTIFICATES
A 60i Certificate is issued by an Accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner when in his opinion any possibility of agreement through Mediation is fruitless and the parties should explore their options through the Court System. The 60i certificate shows the court that the parties attempted mediation but failed and the certificate should be attached to any application filed in Court.  For more information visit www.sydneyfamilylawmediation.com.au

COURT ORDERED CONFERENCES AND REPORTS
The Court will occasionally order a Family Report, or a Child Dispute Conference (CDC). These require discussion and preparation because the report tabled after these meetings find their way back to the Judge for consideration and implementation. We’ll help you prepare for these sessions.
